ENGLISH MIDDLE SCHOOL

Write a summary that expressly states the central idea or theme of the text in four or five sentences. The goal is to be as concise and direct as possible with your information. The summary should cover Chapters 29 and 30 of the book. You may want to begin with a pre-writing activity and make a list of all the important events, then isolate which of those are central ideas or themes that Verne is attempting to convey. Use those ideas within your text. Submit only your final summary sentences. THIS IS JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH!

Answer 1
Answer:

When Alex regained memory again he was very weak because he had been lost for 4 days,.The next morning he woke up,  and he heard something, They were the waves and the wind. Alex thought it was a hallucination.

The next  day, when he could open his eyes, he did not believe that the ocean was in front of him with a  deeply indented shore  lined with a breadth of fine shining sand, softly lapped by the waves.

Alex thought of the theory of an English captain, who likened the earth to a vast hollow sphere, in the interior of which the air became luminous because of the vast pressure that weighed upon it .

Finally he realized they were the only living creatures in this subterranean world.

Answer 2
Answer:

- Before to recover his memory and awake, Axel felt touched when he saw his uncle worried about his state, above all when he requested Axel don’t separate more.

- Axel saw a light ray outside and listened to waves of the sea and the wind blows. He thought they were on the surface of the earth and that his uncle had finished his mission or maybe he had given up. After, he noticed they did not arrive on earth yet and thought he was getting mad.

- Professor asked Axel to take a rest because he was weak and needed to recuperate more. However, Axel insisted to go out when his uncle told him that the next day they would embark.

- When he went out,  he looked that there was an ocean with a savage appearance with fine and gold sand, an inclining beach, and a beautiful light that was not like the warm sun, but also a similar combination between the moonlight and the Northern lights, instead of the hot there was cold.

- Axel affirmed there were no words to describe the wonderful things there were in the island. He just admired the hot springs, white fungus and faded trees among others amazing things.

c. They are minor players who don't speak many lines.

The extras are the opposite of the lead characters. The lead characters are the focus of the story, they throw the most lines and has the most scenes among others while the extras are those who has a little role in the play. These people do not usually have lines. They can be in a form of passersby, the audience in a play presented on the film or among the casualties in  major tragedy featured on the drama. What was the Enlightenment, and how did it change they way people viewed government?

Answers

Enlightenment gave people a different view of how government works. People began

Answer: The Enlightenment, or Age of Reason, was a period of time in Europe when science and reason were used to explain nature, society, and politics. Prior to the Enlightenment, Europeans did not question things like education, social justice, and government authority because they believed such things were the will of God. During the Enlightenment, scientists and philosophers began to change the way people thought about the world by challenging accepted ideas. People began to think that government should function based on the consent of the governed and that citizens had certain rights that the government could not take away. These new beliefs radically changed the way that some governments functioned in the world.

Considering the ending of the short story "Was It a Dream?" what is the author saying about love? Do you think he is right or wrong? In one to two paragraphs, explain your answer.

Answers

Answer:

Acoording to Guy De Maupassant anything can be hidden.

Explanation:

Sometimes when people are in love, glorify the loved ones and accept everything abot them, even deny or ignore their faults or weaknesses. In this short story, the main character lost his love, and he shows how perfect was everything about her, unfortunately, one day he is found unconscious on her beloved grave after having read the real message should have be written on her tombstone trhat exposes her, showing she was cheating on him the day she got sick.

I think he was right about his feeling, he had reasons to feel himself disapointed and shocked. His perception of what love is after discovering that changed totally, and it makes sense. He wanted to express not only his surprise feelng but also how everything can be discovered in any moment.

By Guy Maupassant where the ending tells about what is love. I think what he really mean in that part of story is that he couldn't believe nor image the possibility that he would experience such greatness of love and he is like in heaven when he experienced it

How would delivering a speech at a political rally differ from writing an academic paper, even if both the speech and the paper were on the same subject?

Answers

A speech at a political rally would be adressessed to commom people and would be oral. The politician would speak in front of large groups of people and his / her aim would be to convince the audience about his/ her policies, or about his / her proyects. The speech would be full of rhetorical language and the speaker might use these strategies: pathos , logo and / or ethos to persuade the audience. For example, if the speech were on teenager's leisure, the speech might be about the new discos that would be built with the tax payers' money and the focus might be on the fact that alcoholic drinks would be banned and replaced by fruit juice.

Contrary to the speech at a political rally, a written academic paper would be printed and would address schoolars or people from universities. The writer would try to convince the academic community through logical arguments suported by reliable  evidence. The language would be formal and academic and  not emotional. For example, if the paper were on teenager's leisure, the paper might have a claim: " Teenagers leisure is economically exploited by entertainment companies."

Well the target audiences are very different, because at the political party the speaker is trying to persuade the audience to agree with him/her where as the target audience for the academic paper are trying to tech their audience on the topic, also the thesis is more clearly stated in the academic paper.
